About The Reactor

The Reactor was a newspaper column written by Paul Azevedo and published from 1975 until 2004 in the Pacifica Tribune in Pacifica, California. While it was mostly about Pacifica, the column ranged from political opinion to local history, with occasional forays into ideas and philosophy.

Azevedo had opinions on libraries, motorcycles, gun control (he was in favor of it), open space, and abortion (he was pro-life). A self-confessed liberal Democrat, and past president and vice-president of the fifty-year-old Pacifica Democratic club, he was not afraid to support Independents like Quentin Kopp or Republicans like Pete McCloskey when he felt they're in the right. He was not afraid to be politically incorrect, though he was perfectly willing to be PC if that was the correct side to take.

Paul spent most of his life in Northern California and lived of Pacifica from 1963 until his death in 2004.
